When you are applying a care plan to a patients file, the last screen you will see once you have Fortis integrated with your software, is where you will set up an Auto-debit.
Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Auto-Debits
Patients utilizing HSA cards for Care Plan payments CANNOT be placed on Auto-debits.
The reason for this is because when an auto-debit for payment is sent, the system will request the full amount due. If the HSA account does not have the full amount available, it will send what is available.
When a patient wants to be on a care plan with monthly/weekly payments, the HSA account needs to be called to verify funds before the payment is submitted, so the correct amount can be entered when running the payment. Then the patient will either pay the rest of the amount due out of pocket or the remaining amount of the payment will sit as a balance due until more funds are provided to the HSA card.
Step 1: select "Automatically Charge Patient's Credit Card"
Step 2: If patient has not made a payment within your software yet, select the Green plus sign and save the account vault. If they have, skip to step 3.
After the Fortis window launches, Scroll down and Select Add Account Vault
Click on the Credit Card number area, Swipe Patients credit card on terminal that is linked with Fortis to auto fill in data or manually enter the Credit Card and Expiration date info required.
Once Completed, Hit SAVE.
Step 5:
Once you can see that the Account Vault has been added and the message
"Account Vault Saved Successfully"
CLOSE the FORTIS WINDOW by selecting the X at the top right of the screen.
Step 3: Select Saved payment method
Step 4: Select the date when auto debits should start taking place and select Next.
If you are running a down-payment as an auto-debit, it can take a while to process as it has all day to trigger, so we recommend starting auto debits after the down-payment.
Step 5: Select Finish
