You have the ability to opt patients out of Text and Email Campaigns distributed by your clinic.

- If your Patient does not want to receive Text or Email Campaigns + Email Appt Reminders, and only wants to receive Text Appointment Reminders, follow these steps or Scroll down to the "Utilize Tags" Section Below.
- If your patient only wants to Opt out of Text Campaigns, but would like to receive Text Appt Reminders, Email Campaigns & Email Appt Reminders - Scroll down to the "Utilize Tags" Section Below.
- If your patient only wants to Opt out of Email & Text Campaigns, but receive Text & Email Appt Reminders - Scroll down to the "Utilize Tags" Section Below
Lets get started!
Enter Patient Profile and select Edit
Find the Messaging Section and Select the Box: Do not send campaign emails, then select Save
Doing this will Opt them out of both Text and Email Campaigns as well as affect Email Appointment Reminders. So Email Appointment Reminders will not be distributed any longer if these steps are taken.
**IF your Clinic's Appointment Reminders are set to "Text all patients before their appointments" in Admin>Appointment Reminders:
Patients can still receive Text Appointment Reminders, but this will now be the only auto communication from the clinic from now forward.
**If your Clinic's Appointment Reminders are set to "Text reminders only to patients I select" in Admin>Appointment Reminders:
Lets make sure Patient's will still receive Text Appointment Reminders without Text & Email Campaigns or Email Appointment Reminders!
Enter Patient Profile and select Case Tab
Now, find the Messaging Section, you will see: Opt-In to Reminder Messages?
Select the box for Text Messages and hit Save.
**Note: Even if the Email Box is selected here, it is now null and void as you have opted them out of Email communciation in the Patient Profile
In summary, this patient will now ONLY receive Text Appointment Reminders and nothing else.
Utilize Tags
Utilizing Tags can be useful if:
- If your patient only wants to Opt out of Text Campaigns, but would like to receive Text Appt Reminders, Email Appt Reminders & Email Campaigns
- If your patient only wants to Opt out of Email Campaigns, but would like to receive Text Appt Reminders, Email Appt Reminders & Text Campaigns
- If your patient only wants to Opt out of Email & Text Campaigns, but receive Text & Email Appt Reminders
To Implement either scenario we will use the Tags feature in the Patient file.
Open the Patient Profile and select the Patient Tab. Find the Tags Section:
Enter in something similar to NO TEXT and/or NO EMAIL, then hit the blue + sign to add it to your List:
Now, for my example NO TEXT and NO EMAIL are tags for my Patient. We now need to make sure this Tag is added in as a Filter when building Text or Email Marketing Campaigns.
Lets add this Tag into a Campaign, so patients that are tagged this way, will not receive Text Marketing Campaigns and/or Email Marketing Campaigns.

During the Setup of your Campaign>Filters>Scroll down to the Tags Filter>Select "Do not Include" from the Dropdown:
Enter in the Appropriate Tag and hit the Blue + Sign to Lock it In.
**NOTE: Please make sure you type it out the EXACT way you did when applying to patient files. If you are unsure, double check by using the Global Tag Report ;)

You will need to remember to "Not Include" these Tags when creating your Campaigns.
Utilizing Tags for this purpose will allow your Patient to still receive the preferred Appointment Reminder method, removing Email or Text Marketing from your Clinic.
